Certified Hand Therapist
Position Summary
Job Duties:
Provides patient care. Assesses and evaluates patients, documents findings, and establishes goals and treatment plans.
Fabricates appropriate upper extremity splints to increase range of motion and/or function.
Documents patient treatments, evaluations, and progress.
Communicates with staff, physicians, and outside agencies in order to report patient progress.
Instructs and orients students and volunteers in the Occupational Therapy Department.
Establishes and reviews home exercise programs. Develops and implements hand therapy followship program and coordinated continuing education seminars.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Occupational Therapy; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in treating a variety of disabilities and developing policies and budgets; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association, CHT certification, NDT certification, and IASTM certification.
Desired Qualifications
One to three years of related experience as a Certified Hand Therapist
Experience in developing and implementing a hand therapy fellowship program and coordinated continuing education seminars

Work Hours
Clinic operations are Monday - Thursday 6am to 7pm and Fridays 6am to 5:30pm. Hours would be within this range.

Summary of Physical Demands
The job requires significant physical effort and involves performing stretching/resistance exercises for patients, lifting patients from wheel chairs, moving equipment and demonstrating exercises 26 to 75% of the time.
Summary of Health Risks
Exposure to human blood, serum, and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
