Position Summary

1. Conduct research tasks under the supervision of Dr. Joodaky (e.g. data collection, modeling, simulation).
2. Assist with analysis of materials and dynamics relevant to packaging.
3. Support ongoing research projects; may participate in modest independent sub-projects as time allows, always aligned with supervisor direction.
4. Operate and maintain lab equipment in packaging dynamics.
5. Assist in preparing results for publication / presentation; coauthoring as appropriate.

6. Attend the related internal and external (e.g. conferences) meetings and present the studies.
6. Expected to contribute to proposal writing if appropriate.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Material Science

Minimum Requirements

 

1. A PhD in Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Aerospace Engineering (focus on solid mechanics, dynamics / vibrations).
2. Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python.
3. Experience in Finite Element Method modeling (Abaqus, Ansys) or similar.
4. Basic familiarity with machine learning (preferred).
5. Some record of research output (e.g. peer-reviewed papers, conference abstracts) or demonstrable research capability.

 

Desired Qualifications

1. Familiarity with packaging structures (corrugated boards, polymer foams).
2. Knowledge of nonlinear dynamics, signal processing, composite mechanics, control theory and Energy Harvesting.
3. Hands-on lab experience: DIC, universal testers, accelerometers, shaker tables, vibration instrumentation.
4. Advanced/ deeper knowledge of machine learning.
5. Some exposure to fluid mechanics or multi-physics modeling.
