Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Plans, coordinates, oversees, and executes assigned research, service projects, and/or large-scale special events for a unit of moderate size, budget, staff, and/or complexity.

Characteristic Duties - Responsibilities: 

•     Develops, plans, coordinates and manages assigned projects/events. 
•     Maintains the records of departmental projects, functions or events.
•     Assists with project/event budget development and monitors, analyzes, and reconciles related records. 
•     Conducts research on assigned projects/events and for the development of new projects.
•     Recruits, hires, schedules, trains, and supervises student, on-call, and temporary employees, and volunteers for projects/events and related activities in order to ensure high quality service.
•     Monitors contracts and agreements in order to ensure that all provisions are met. 
•     Recommends, develops and conducts training programs, workshops, seminars, and practicums on the appropriate topics for project/event participants. 
•     Coordinates, evaluates and prepares reports on project/event activities. 
•     Oversees the preparation of project/event related publications.
•     Maintains health and safety standards in order to ensure compliance with University, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
•     Maintains inventory levels and orders supplies as necessary.
•     Acts as liaison between vendors and users in order to obtain requested project/event materials. 

Communications - Interpersonal Relationships: 

Interacts with: 

•     Faculty/Department Administrators/Other Staff - in order to receive direction, exchange information, coordinate and evaluate projects. 
•     Students, On-call, Temporary Workers and Volunteers - in order to provide instruction, coordinate work, resolve problems, and exchange information.
•     Public - in order to provide services, products, exchange information and perform public relation activities.
•     Vendors/Suppliers - in order to acquire materials and supplies, and maintain inventory.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with event programming, working with undergraduate students, and some level of financial management experience. 

Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired in a four year college degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business or in an area related to the work being performed; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible and expansive work experience in a field related to the position including planning and managing special events; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and/or presentation software. Position may require software specific to the operational activities of the employing unit. This position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.
