Position Summary
The Russell Palmer Career Management Center within the Eli Broad College of Business seeks a Project/Event Coordinator to lead the strategy, planning, execution, and promotion of employer engagement and recruiting events while overseeing external communications that support student career outcomes. This position plays a critical role in executing high impact recruiting events and delivering cohesive communications that enhance employer brand presence and student engagement. The Project/Event Coordinator collaborates closely with employers, faculty, staff, student organizations, and campus partners to ensure that recruiting initiatives align with college priorities and provide meaningful access to career opportunities for Broad undergraduate and graduate students.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired in a four-year college degree in Personnel Administration, Public Relations, Communications, Business, Marketing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible and expansive work in a field related to the position including planning and managing special events, marketing/creative services, or human services; experience in word processing, database, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and/or presentation software required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of the university organization, policies and procedure; excellent communication, writing, editing, strong interpersonal skills; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software; ability to interpret information in order to coordinate projects; ability to determine appropriate site for events that meets budgetary and educational requirements, negotiate rates and terms of agreement; prepare financial and operational reports regarding event related activity.
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) designation
- three to five years of professional experience in event management and experiential marketing
- demonstrated success planning and executing live, virtual, and hybrid events of varying size and complexity
- strong communication, writing, grammar, editing, and proofreading skills
- ability to handle multiple tasks, details and prioritize work
- experience managing social media platforms and developing engagement-driven content
- ability to interpret information in order to coordinate projects
- demonstrate work orientation that includes service focus, problem solving, teamwork and adaptability to change
- knowledge of university policies, procedures, and systems (Handshake experience preferred)
- strong customer service orientation, teamwork mindset, and adaptability to change
- student supervisory experience
