Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Michigan State University and Hurley Children's Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative (https://msuhurleypphi.org/) seeks an on-call/temporary Professional Aide for the Flint Registry (https:// www.flintregistry.org/) project to assist with a summer 2026 health and wellness survey. This is an in-person position scheduled for up to 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours required based on operational needs. This is an end-dated appointment through November 2026.
As a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-designated public health authority, the Flint Registry's goal is to connect individuals impacted by the Flint Water Crisis to resources and programs that minimize the effects of lead exposure while promoting wellness and recovery.
The Professional Aide will conduct participant outreach, administer structured surveys using formated scripts, enter and verify data in designated databases, perform data searches, and attend community events as requested.
The ideal candidate will have experience conducting scripted interviews or surveys, entering responses into databases, and effectively communicating with individuals of all ages in a professional and culturally responsive matter.
Desired Qualifications
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience communicating with people of all ages
• Excellent computer skills, types at least 40 words per minute
• Data entry experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in making phone calls to individuals without prior introduction (cold calls)
• Experience collecting information through scripted interviews and surveys
• Knowledge of the Flint community and/or Flint water crisis
• Available to work some nights and weekends
