Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The Institute of Water Research at Michigan State University seeks a Professional Aide to provide administrative and operational support for office coordination and project-related activities. This position helps ensure efficient day-to-day operations by supporting organizational processes, coordinating logistics for meetings and events, and assisting with tracking projects, deadlines, and reports. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support daily office operations, including workspace organization, coordination of office supplies, and assistance with building-related matters. 

  • Assist the research administrator with organizing and maintaining systems to track projects, deadlines, reports, and expenditures. 

  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for meetings and organizational events, including room reservations, catering arrangements, and day-of-event support. 

  • Assist with document organization, communications, and other administrative tasks that support institute activities. 

  • Provide general office and project support as needed to help ensure administrative processes operate efficiently.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 

  • Proficiency with standard office software. 

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience providing administrative support in an academic or research environment. 

  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, or office operations. 

  • Ability to develop and maintain organized tracking systems for projects and administrative tasks. 

  • Experience managing projects
