Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

  • Receives direction from a Libraries Facilities Operations Coordinator as to daily task and work specifications.
  • Work closely with outside vendors & IPF personnel working on projects in the building.
  • Moving furniture, assembling & disassembling shelving and office furnishings.
  • Provide service and light repair to both static shelving and compact shelving units in all the library’s 8 buildings that facilities are responsible for.
  • Work with the library’s modular office wall system.
    • This may involve constructing office cubicles, making changes to existing offices or completely removing offices as part of a larger project.
  • Work with the other team members and the library events team to coordinate event setups that occur in the building.
  • Manage, maintain & organize Facilities existing equipment & tools.
  • Make material pickups & deliveries that are requested by other library units, moving materials between library buildings.
  • Help complete service requests submitted by library staff through our Facilities Work Request System
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

  • Regularly lifts and pulls over 50 LBS. Strenuous effort is often required. Work hours may include nights, weekends and holidays as directed.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working as liaison with customers, vendors and service providers
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of compact shelving systems.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with modular wall systems
  • Valid Michigan drivers license
