Position Summary
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join the laboratory of Dr. Mary Underwood for a one-year, fixed-term position with the possibility of renewal dependent on performance and funding availability. The Underwood lab studies the role of clearance receptors in thrombosis development, specifically understanding the molecular mechanisms driving the interactions between these receptors and blood proteins. The candidates' main project will involve identifying ligand binding domains for the clearance receptor stabilin-2 and identifying the intracellular proteins important for modulating stabilin-2's interaction with its ligands. Required Degree
Terminal -Cell and molecular biology, biochemistry or a closely related field.
Minimum Requirements
•Expertise in cellular and molecular biology (cloning and recombinant protein production)
•Design and conduct experiments independently, analyze and clearly document results
•Prepare manuscripts for publication and contribute to grant writing
•Strong communication skills and ability to present research findings within the department and at conferences
•Supervise and guide undergraduate and graduate students
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desired Qualifications
• A background in hemostasis, thrombosis or a closely related field
• CRISPR gene editing skills
• Expertise in confocal microscopy and flow cytometry
• Experience with surface plasmon resonance
