Working/Functional Title

Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Chan Lab

Position Summary

The Chan Lab at Michigan State University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to work on evolutionary genomics of Southeast Asian reptiles. The lab focuses on specimen-based biodiversity research, with an emphasis on understanding the drivers of cryptic biodiversity through the integration of genomic, morphological, and ecological data.

The primary responsibilities of the postdoctoral scholar will be to generate chromosome-level reference genomes and to investigate patterns of structural variation, sex chromosome evolution, and macroevolutionary diversification. The position will involve both laboratory and bioinformatic work, as well as opportunities for field-based sample collection in Southeast Asia. The postdoctoral scholar will also be expected to assist with manuscript preparation, grant writing, student mentoring, lab management, and will be encouraged to develop independent research projects aligned with the lab’s research program.
