Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The primary responsibilities include cleaning interview transcripts and serving as a point person for undergraduate research assistants who are assisting with transcript formatting and early-stage processing.

This role is critical to ensuring the quality, accuracy, and consistency of interview data used for analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Transcript Cleaning

  • Clean interview transcripts generated from audio recordings
  • Verify transcript accuracy against audio recordings
  • Identify and correct transcription errors
  • Flag unclear or inaudible sections with timestamps
  • Ensure consistency in formatting and structure across all transcripts

Undergraduate Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for undergraduate assistants
  • Review formatted transcripts for completeness and consistency
  • Provide guidance and clarification on formatting expectations
  • Answer student questions related to transcript preparation
  • Monitor workflow and ensure timely progress

Quality Control

  • Ensure transcripts meet project standards before analysis
  • Maintain consistency across all documents
  • Communicate regularly with the PI regarding progress and any issues

Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Prior experience with qualitative research (required)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple transcripts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with interview-based research (e.g., transcription, coding, or qualitative analysis)
  • Experience working with or supervising undergraduate research assistants
  • Familiarity with transcript cleaning, transcription platforms (e.g., Otter), or qualitative data software is a plus
