Position Summary
The Michigan State University College of Nursing is seeking applications for our College Alumni Coordinator position. This role will be responsible for coordinating the alumni activities of the College of Nursing with the goal of helping alumni to establish a lifelong relationship with their alma mater while celebrating the diversity of the alumni community and students from all backgrounds. This is accomplished by increasing involvement and engagement of alumni in activities and events; keeping them informed of events happening in the college; involving alumni in college boards, activities and programs; and
building inclusive connections by providing services that keep alumni networked within the
College as well as with their alumni peers. The College Alumni Coordinator will coordinate the college alumni board and assist the college alumni board with strategies to increase involvement and charitable participation in the College. The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include occasional night and weekends for various college events.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plans and coordinates college alumni activities and events and other college events as
necessary and assigned
- Serves as liaison and manages the College of Nursing Alumni Board, including serving
as the official and formal communication link between the College of Nursing and the
Alumni Board.
- Plans, coordinates, and/or assists with development events such as groundbreakings, dedications, campaign meetings, endowed chair/professorship investitures, and scholarship events with a strong focus on diversity, representation, inclusive excellence, and equity.
- Facilitates the annual College Alumni Awards process, including promoting the opportunity, coordinating the selection process, prioritizing equity and inclusion in the selection process, and developing content on each award recipient.
- Communicates with College of Nursing alumni through digital marketing, e-news, the
College's Spartan Nurse Magazine, and maintaining the alumni section of the College's
website.
- Utilize MSU central advancement and marketing resources in addition to joining groups of marketing and communications professional groups nationally to develop and implement a creative strategic plan that reflects principles of diversity and
inclusion
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four- year college degree program in business, marketing, public relations, communications or related
field.; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in higher education fundraising, event coordination, public speaking; or and equivalent combination of education and experience; Valid vehicle operation license.

- Experience in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
• Ability to work some nights and weekends and travel related to alumni programs and
events.
• Outstanding written and verbal skills.
• Website content management experience.
• Volunteer management and organization development knowledge.
• Recent experience with strategic planning and operations.
• Utilization of tolls such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Ascend.
• Project management, journalistic writing skills, such as AP Style, and experience with
digital marketing
• Professional relationship building and maintenance experience.
• Experience with annual giving solicitation, planning, and techniques.
• Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
• Understanding the importance of building life-long relationships between the college and our alumni and friends.
• Experience in video production, including Adobe Premiere Pro.
