Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Community Engagement Coordinator will support the development and evaluation of a patient advocacy application by coordinating relationships with community organizations and prospective study participants. Primary responsibilities will include:

Identify and establish relationships with HRSA-funded maternal health organizations, Healthy Start programs, MIECHV programs, and other community-based partners across Michigan.

Coordinate outreach to programs such as Detroit Healthy Start, Flint Healthy Start, and other regional Healthy Start initiatives.

Maintain a current database of community organizations, contacts, outreach activities, and partnership status.

Schedule and coordinate meetings with community organizations, project personnel, and other stakeholders.

Prepare meeting agendas, outreach materials, presentations, follow-up communications, and meeting notes.

Facilitate stakeholder discussions and document feedback related to the design, implementation, and evaluation of the patient advocacy application.

Support participant recruitment by communicating with partner organizations, distributing approved recruitment materials, and responding to participant inquiries.

Assist with participant retention through appointment reminders, follow-up communications, and coordination with the research team.

Coordinate participant scheduling, communications, and incentive distribution in accordance with approved project procedures.

Track recruitment, retention, meeting participation, and community engagement activities.

Provide routine updates to the faculty supervisor and project team regarding outreach progress, recruitment activity, partner feedback, and potential barriers.

Perform other administrative and community engagement duties related to the project.
Desired Qualifications

Experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, participant recruitment, program coordination, administrative support, or a related area.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with community organizations, research participants, and project personnel.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple contacts, meetings, deadlines, and follow-up activities.

Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with a multidisciplinary project team.

Ability to maintain accurate records and handle participant and organizational information with discretion.

Proficiency with standard office and collaboration tools, including email, spreadsheets, shared documents, and virtual meeting platforms.

Experience working with maternal health organizations, public health programs, community-based organizations, or populations experiencing barriers to healthcare is preferred.

Familiarity with Healthy Start, MIECHV, HRSA-funded programs, or Michigan maternal and child health organizations is preferred.
