Position Summary

Michigan State University actively promotes a dynamic research and learning environment in which qualified individuals of differing perspectives, and cultural backgrounds pursue academic goals with mutual respect and shared inquiry.

The dually accredited (APA and PCSAS) Michigan State University (MSU) Clinical Science Ph.D. Program in the Department of Psychology invites applications for the Director of its in-house Psychological Clinic (Assistant Professor rank). This is a 12-month fixed term appointment for one year, with the probability of renewal. This full-time position entails roughly 25 hours per week of administrative responsibility for clinic directorship and management of an endowed undergraduate comprehensive mental-health program. The remaining 15 hours are dedicated to teaching, supervision and/or additional administrative duties as Associate Director of Clinical Training. The MSU Psychological Clinic serves the broader Lansing area, providing assessment, treatment, and outreach to a diverse community population. In addition to the Director of the Clinic, there is one full-time administrative assistant and one half-time graduate assistant who provide additional administrative support and report to the Director. The Clinic Director is a leadership position within the Clinical Science program and involves working close with the faculty member serving as Director of Clinical Training to integrate the clinical training in the Clinic with the overall Clinical science program and faculty. The Clinic Director is responsible for overall management of the Clinic, which includes managing staff, managing the business administration, overseeing supervision and case assignments, consulting on clinical emergencies, monitoring client and clinician well-being, and conducting a weekly intake and case assignment meeting. Finally, the Clinic Director is responsible for identifying and pursuing new training opportunities for the Ph.D. students, as well as developing and maintaining active relationships with the local clinical community. This aspect of the role is important because it facilitates new training opportunities and gives visibility to the work of the Clinic.
