Position Summary

This position provides leadership and oversight for accounting, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and business operations within RHS. This role serves as a key financial liaison ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, university policy, and regulatory requirements.   

Typical responsibilities include:

Accounting Leadership and Financial Reporting (25%)  

Oversee portions of the accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close processes; interpret and apply GASB standards within the University environment while maintaining a strong understanding of GAAP and FASB principles to support business operations, financial analysis, and reporting/certifications as needed; review reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements; support internal and external audits. 

Supervision and Staff Development (25%)  

Supervise professional staff, conduct evaluations, coach employees, and support succession planning and cross-training.  

Internal Controls, Compliance and Risk Management (15%)  

Lead internal control development, risk assessments, compliance monitoring, policy development, and corrective action planning.  

Process Improvement and Strategic Initiatives (15%)  

Lead process improvement efforts, workflow redesign, financial systems initiatives, and cross-functional projects.  

Financial Management and Business Operations (10%)  

Serve as Fiscal Officer, monitor budgets and financial performance, and advise leadership on resource allocation and financial impacts.  

Leadership and Divisional Engagement (10%)  

Serves as a liaison to divisional and operational committees for business and financial consultation and integration.

 

This position will be fully onsite for the first six months, followed by the option to switch to a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote. This is not a fully remote position.

All positions in RHS Are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field; 5-8 years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accounting; advanced knowledge of GAAP, GASB standards, FASB standards, financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, financial analysis, and staff supervision; or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications

CPA, Masters degree, higher education accounting experience, and advanced financial reporting expertise.
