Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Tenure System

Position Summary

Michigan State University's Department of Radiology invites applications for tenure-system faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and/or Professor to join the Center for Imaging and Image-Guided Therapy (CIIGT). Successful candidates will contribute to the scientific growth and national prominence of the CIIGT, a state-of-the-art translational imaging center equipped with a Siemens Biograph One PET/MRI system, advanced radiopharmacy capabilities, and extensive preclinical (https://imaging.iq.msu.edu/) and clinical imaging resources (https://biomedicalimaging.msu.edu). They will interact with our Precision Health Program (PHP; https://radiology.msu.edu/research/precision-health-program) and the Institute for Quantitative Health Sciences and Engineering (https://iq.msu.edu/) to advance new technologies aimed at improving health.

The CIIGT harnesses the full potential of Michigan State University’s unique research and clinical assets. With two co-located medical colleges, a college of nursing, a college of veterinary medicine,  nationally recognized programs in animal and agricultural sciences and our world-renowned Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (https://frib.msu.edu/), the Institute for Quantitative Health Sciences and Engineering, and clinical imaging research (https://izzofamilymedicalcenter.com/), combined with established and emerging clinical partnerships across the state, CIIGT is a truly distinctive research environment, unlike any other in the world. CIIGT is an inspiring and tangible manifestation of MSU’s One Team, One Health initiative envisioned to bring our strengths in human, animal and environmental health together to become a national powerhouse of precision health and healing. The CIIGT provides a collaborative nexus of innovation uniquely enabling scientists to leverage human and large animal models and reciprocal translation to the benefit of all life.

This position is part of Michigan State University’s Global Impact Initiative (GII), a comprehensive strategic investment in new and enhanced research endeavors designed to advance big ideas, innovation, and global impact while responding to the MSU 2030 Strategic Plan. The GII supports faculty recruitment in high-priority areas of research and aligns investments with university and college priorities, historical strengths, and new opportunities for growth.

As part of this strategic investment, faculty members will bring or develop innovative, externally funded research programs and work closely with the CIIGT Director and investigators across the Colleges of Human Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, and other university partners to advance translational imaging research spanning human and animal health.

Please note that this is a union position represented by the Union of Tenure System Faculty (UTSF). The university is working with the union to establish a collective bargaining agreement.

As an institution of higher learning, Michigan State University is committed to providing a safe environment for its students, faculty, and staff in support of its educational mission. With this commitment, the University conducts criminal background checks and professional misconduct reviews of all applicants for employment in faculty, academic staff, and executive management searches.

Professional Misconduct Review

A professional misconduct review is a prerequisite for a candidate to be selected for this position. Applicants will be asked to disclose whether they are subject to any pending investigation, findings or sanctions related to professional misconduct. Professional misconduct includes misconduct related to a person’s employment, including, but not limited to, theft, embezzlement, research integrity, discrimination, or harassment under civil rights laws and policies, including protected identity harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct (sexual assault, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, etc.), and retaliation. All applicants will be asked to sign an authorization and release, which authorizes the University to contact the candidate’s current and former employers, for a period of 7 years prior to the date of application, related to any pending investigations, findings of responsibility and/or sanctions related to professional misconduct. Nothing will be sent to current or former employers unless the candidate reaches the semi-finalist stage.

The existence of professional misconduct history does not automatically exclude a candidate from employment. The University will assess the history, including any information provided by the candidate, in determining whether it is compatible with the position. The University may decline to hire a candidate based on the professional misconduct review. All records obtained from external employers will be kept in a secure location, separate from personnel files. If an applicant fails to sign the authorization and release, the application will be deemed incomplete and will be withdrawn.
