About the role
This is a permanent full-time opportunity to effectively lead and coordinate the operations of the City Planning Department in the delivery and maintenance of a contemporary framework of strategic and statutory plans and policy settings to guide the growth and development of Penrith. The role provides strategic planning advice on growth and change for the City to meet Council’s Vision and Four-Year Delivery Program objectives.
Essential criteria
- Tertiary qualification in urban / town planning or a related discipline
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the formulation and implementation of strategic and land-use planning policy
- Proven experience in effectively coordinating and delivering multi-faceted planning functions.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience stakeholder and community engagement
- Strong analytical, project management and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and achieve targets
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $137,913.00 - $159,639.00 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation, and will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
Access to a Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.

The City Planning department is responsible for coordinating long term planning for the City. We deliver a range of programs and services including maintaining a contemporary planning framework, local infrastructure funding and place-based planning projects.
