Penrith City Council's City Planning Department is responsible for coordinating the long term planning for the City. In this role, we deliver a range of programs and services including the development of long term land use planning strategies and policies, city planning, regional planning and place-based planning projects. We work with people in our communities and staff from across the organisation as well as state and federal agencies, businesses, and interest groups. About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player to join our team as a Planner on a permanent full-time basis (35 hours per week).
City Planning has an extensive work program including reviewing our Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan and responding to planning reform. This program will lead to amazing opportunities for our City as well as accepting the challenge of balancing the growth, resilience and liveability of our City. You will be part of a planning team that value free exchange of ideas and knowledge, collaboration, quality output and raising each other up and together we are seeking to develop a best practice planning framework for the Penrith community.

Essential Criteria
- Completed or nearly completed tertiary qualifications in Planning or a related field
- An understanding of the NSW statutory planning framework and other relevant legislation
- Team participation and project coordination skills
- Sound negotiation, communication and customer liaison skills
- Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and to complete projects within designated timeframes
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working in a local government environment in planning or a related field
- Relevant work experience in planning policy formulation
- Current Class C driver licence
Commencing Salary: $90,063.00. p.a, plus 11.5% Superannuation.
