Position Overview:

In conjunction with the Director & Deputy Director of Athletics, Recreation & Physical Education, this position will direct, plan and organize UMBC’s 17 intercollegiate athletics programs and support functions. Provide overall direction and support for a full-time staff and approximately 75 coaches and administrators. This position will ensure program operations are of high quality and integrity and are functioning in support of the overall University vision, mission, and values.

The Sr. Associate Athletic Director, Deputy Title IX Coordinator serves as a strategic leader within UMBC's Athletic Department, focusing on legal affairs, governance, contract management, and Title IX coordination. This role is pivotal to ensuring that the department's operations align with institutional policies, legal standards, and best practices, thereby fostering an environment of equity, integrity and excellence.

Responsibilities:

The Sr. Associate Athletic Director, Deputy Title IX Coordinator will be responsible for the following responsibilities: 

  • Legal Affairs & Governance
  • Contract Management
  • Title IX Coordination
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Sport Administration
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferably in law, human resources, public administration, student affairs or a related field. 
  • Three years of experience investigating complaints, including Title IX, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Formal graduate-level education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 15 graduate program credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master's degree in a related field. 
  • 5 years experience investigating complaints, including Title IX, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in leadership role within a collegiate athletics department.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract law, governance, and legal risk management.
  • Familiarity with Title IX regulations and their applications within athletics.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement governance frameworks in complex organization.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Salary:

Salary: $94,000 - $106,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Nights and weekends may be required.
