Job Summary: |
The Athletics Department at SUNY Brockport State University of New York is accepting applications to establish a pool of candidates to fill possible openings for the part-time position of Assistant Coach. SUNY Brockport Athletics is comprised of 23 sports and is an NCAA Division III program and a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), Empire 8, and NCGA conferences. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the NCAA Division III program. This includes coaching, player evaluations, recruitment, and Athletic Department fundraising
Major Responsibilities The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the NCAA Division III program in a respective sport. This includes coaching in practice sessions and competitions, player evaluations, development of game plans, recruitment, and Athletic Department fundraising. Also, to provide an excellent student-athlete experience, demonstrate positive progress in competitive standing in the SUNYAC Conference, recruit student-athletes to the college and maintain roster.
Athletic Responsibilities • Coaching - 35% • Player Evaluations - 5% • Recruiting - 30% • Game/Practice Preparation/Scheduling - 20% • Team Travel - 5% • Administrative 5% o Report directly to the Head Coach o Represent the sports program and the department to various institutional entities and externally to students, parents, and the public o Assist with team schedules and team travel o Assist with supervision of all student-athletes while away on intercollegiate athletic trips o Keep abreast of and comply with the NCAA rules and regulations o Recruit skilled and academically qualified student-athletes o Correspondence with athletic administration and support staff |
Minimum Qualifications: |
• Bachelor’s degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university or job-related work experience. • Ability to work in a diverse population and commitment to creating an inclusive environment. • Effective communication and organizational skills. • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications: |
• 1 year experience coaching at an intercollegiate level. • Demonstrated commitment to Division III philosophy.
