Job Summary: This position serves as support staff for Parking and Transportation Services. The Conrad Welcome Center serves as the host department for campus with oversight of parking, transportation and campus ID programs. Work consists of day-to-day activities with a focus of monitoring university parking lots for compliance with university parking policies and regulations. The coordination and execution of parking plan related to special events, simple maintenance to parking equipment also fall under the purview of this position.

  • Monitor and enforce parking regulations on campus grounds; provide directions and assistance to guests and visitors, coordination, and preparation of special events.
  • Oversight of all enforcement activities to include issuance of citations, vehicle immobilization, towing.
  • Issuance of appropriate parking citations to vehicles in violation of campus parking policy and regulation.
  • Use of parking technology – license plate readers, scanners, parking enforcement software and equipment, pay by cell software, pay station hardware and software, meter hardware and configuration.
  • Collection of fees from various resources to include meters, pay station, cashiering in the office.
  • Proper reconciliation and maintaining documents as per established internal control policy.
  • Respond to inquiries related to parking fees, approved parking locations, shuttle operations, location of campus offices and personnel, special event accommodations.
  • Conduct visual audits and provide report upon request.
  • Upkeep of parking equipment to include license plate reader/camera system, meters, pay station, signage. Installation of simple signage requests.
  • Attend weekly campus meetings related to parking operations, coordinate and execute special events plans. Set up and tear down of barricades and signage, scheduling and oversight of parking attendants, attend debriefing meetings.
  • Recommend parking operation improvements to Director.
  • Oversight of student employees.
    • Post vacancy announcements, monitor, schedule interviews, hiring, schedule work assignments and regular oversight of student parking attendants.
  • Aid motorists parked on university grounds: lock de-icer; vehicle jumpstarts; tire inflation.
  • Adhere to University internal control policies.
  • Undergo training to complete necessary requirements for PCI controls.
  • Provide support for campus events such as commencement, open house, homecoming, orientation and events and activities related to student success, which may be scheduled on the weekend.
  • Assist with tabled and oral presentations relaying relevant parking and transportation information.

 

Work Environment 

  • This position will have to work in an office environment as well as outside in all weather conditions. 
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:

Labor Class: no examination is required; however, applicants must be able to read, speak, and understand English, and possess a valid New York State motor vehicle license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with members of diverse University community in a professional manner.
  • Experience in similar job.
  • Ability to prepare simple narrative reports and maintain records.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Flexible availability.
Work Schedule:

40 Hours/Week; Monday & Wednesday: 7:30am – 4:00pm; Tuesday & Thursday: 10:30am – 7:00pm; Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm

*Shift changes may occur each semester. Summer & Winter break hours: 7:30am – 4:00pm

Salary and Benefits:

$39,215
