Widener University Delaware Law School is currently seeking a Student Affairs and DEI Coordinator. The person in this position will work as part of the Student Affairs and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) teams, reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Academic Affairs and the Assistant Dean for DEI.  The person in this role will perform various duties as needed related to Student Affairs and DEI efforts, which will include processing financial paperwork, helping to hire and supervise student workers, liaising with and advising student organizations with respect to their events, managing office supplies and equipment, and helping to coordinate Student Affairs and DEI events. 

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Essential Duties:

  • Assist student leaders with special events including but not limited to arranging for rooms, food, travel, and invitations
  • Help coordinate annual Student Affairs and DEI events, including the Dean’s Honors Reception and the Student Awards Ceremony
  • Help to greet office visitors, answer their questions, and direct them to the appropriate office or resource
  • Track Student Affairs, DEI, and student organization budgets
  • Type, proof, print, copy and email or mail letters, memos, and reports
  • Interact professionally with a wide array of constituents, including students, faculty, administrators, alumni, attorneys, judges, and others in the legal and business community
  • Assist with hiring of student notetakers
  • Assist with proofreading, duplication/printing, and dissemination of flyers and other documents
  • Prepare payment/check requests for bills and requests for reimbursement
  • Assist Dean of Students and DEI Dean with maintaining expense records; draft and submit expense reports
  • Order office supplies and ensure maintenance of office equipment and facilities
  • Assist with managing the Student Affairs study aid resource library
  • Assist with maintaining/updating DEI resources electronically

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of administrative support experience in a busy office environment
  • Associates degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn new technology systems, including but not limited to student information systems and learning management systems
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of team
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work in an open office environment while helping to greet and assist office visitors
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds

Preferred:

  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience in Higher Education or a school office
  • Experience in supporting DEI programming

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

  • Some evening hours to accommodate evening student schedules (e.g. 2x per month work until 6:15 pm)
  • Ability to work at and attend some evening events, e.g. Orientation picnic, Student Awards Ceremony, and/or DEI programming
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for extended period of time
