Widener University is currently seeking a Student Financial Services Representative in the Office of the Bursar/Enrollment Services. Reporting to Associate Bursar, this role is responsible for assisting all University students and staff with transactions for Financial Aid, Bursar, Registrar, One Card. In addition, the Student Financial Services Representative is responsible for answering a wide variety of questions posed by potential and current students, staff, faculty, and visitors to the University. This position is a full-time, in person role.
Reporting to the Associate Bursar, the Student Financial Services Representative serves as a primary point of contact for students, staff, faculty, and visitors seeking assistance with Financial Aid, Bursar, Registrar, and One Card services. This role provides front-line support by processing transactions, addressing inquiries, and delivering accurate, timely information across a wide range of student service areas. The Representative plays a key role in creating a positive and efficient service experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential Duties:
- Provide high quality customer service to all constituents, including prospective and current students, their families, and partners on campus in-person, telephone, and virtual contexts. Note that this position requires 100% in-person employment.
- Upon request, review students' financial aid, process add/drop of classes for the Registrar, facilitate changes in meal plans, and provide other services to support other units on campus in the spirit of student convenience.
- Process in person student and/or departmental cash and check payments into Colleague.
- Advise students, staff and special program participants regarding financial status processes, procedures, and requirements; advise on alternative courses of action and consequences.
- Initiate, review, and update student accounts for financial assessment and payment transactions.
- Prepare and reconcile daily cash receipts for head cashier.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist with administering student employment contracts.
- Receive, process, and disburse all pertinent Enrollment Management forms.
- Instruct students on Web-based transactions and resolve holds on student records.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed to support departmental needs and align with the mission, values and goals of the Enrollment/Bursar’s Office and Widener University.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (education/training and experience required)
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer service experience in an office environment.
- Demonstrate significant attention to detail.
- Experience in demonstrating diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with students and faculty.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Demonstrate the ability to work in web-based software, email communication and effectively Internet use.
- Must be organized, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Superior interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with students, staff, faculty, and external constituents.
Preferred:
- Experience using Ellucian/Colleague software.
- Customer service experience in higher education, especially financial services.
- Experience in front-line service role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
