The Chemistry Department has 9 classified staff,  23 tenure-track faculty, and 10 instructional faculty.  We serve about 300 undergraduate majors and over 20 graduate students annually, and offer a variety of degrees in Biochemistry or Chemistry (M.S., B.S., B.A.), along with a combined B.A. with Education degree.   We have a robust research program, vibrant student clubs, and a host of department sponsored events throughout the year.

 

About the Position The Program Coordinator is one of the first lines of contact with the Chemistry Department. The position supports the department chair, administrative services manager, faculty, staff, and students. The position provides academic advising for students; administrative support to the department; assists with department event planning; recruitment, retention, and outreach activities; and helps promote a supportive and inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff. This is a part-time; 7 hour per day/10-month cyclic position.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent education/experience
  • At least two years of high-level clerical or advising experience.
    • Education may not substitute for work experience.
  • Strong technical skills, including ability to become proficient with software applications and willingness to continually learn new skills and technologies with positive adaptability to frequent change.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently while managing time effectively and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated record of strong organizational skills, including a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills, including experience handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a friendly, cooperative team environment with an inclusive group of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience serving as a mentor or advisor to secondary or post-secondary students.
  • Proficiency with Banner Student
  • Proficiency with Degree Works
  • Proficiency with Western Marketplace-
  • Proficiency with Concur
  • Experience using Drupal, or other HTML or web content management software.

Salary  $2,966 - $3,968/month (@.75 FTE) depending on qualifications and experience
