About the Position |
The Recruitment Specialist conducts outreach and recruitment activities primarily in support of Western's programs on the Peninsulas. Working in collaboration with Olympic College, Peninsula College, local high schools, businesses and community organizations, the Recruitment Specialist manages activities to support enrollment growth across multiple programs. This position will work in collaboration with the Senior Director Western Locations and the Enrollment Management team at WWU to create and implement a strategic enrollment plan. The Recruitment Specialist will also serve as a primary liaison for Slate, Western's applicant and prospective student data management system. A key component of this role will be to create outreach and recruitment strategies that support Western's diversity, equity and inclusion goals. This position will be based in Bremerton or Poulsbo, with frequent local and regional travel.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Outreach (40%)
- Create, implement and manage recruitment activities to meet overall goals for program growth
- Establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with Olympic College, Peninsula College, other colleges and high schools in the region
- Conduct outreach presentations to groups of all sizes to highlight Western's programs in the region
- Travel, as needed, in the region to conduct outreach and recruitment activities to meet established goals
- Collaborate with WWU admissions counselors to ensure consistent representation of all programs
- Maintain a current and excellent working knowledge of all Peninsulas-based programs and general knowledge of Bellingham-based programs
- Maintain excellent knowledge of WWU admission criteria for transfer students
- Communicate the values of Western Washington University and the benefits of higher education to a wide and diverse range of prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and community groups with tact, diplomacy, and discretion
- Coordinate and execute public speaking engagements at recruitment events such as high school and community college visits, college fairs, and on campus programs
- Create, implement and maintain regular on-going campus-visitation programs for Peninsulas-based programs
- Collaborate with academic units (colleges and departments) to ensure regularly updated program information is available for prospective students
- Represent Peninsulas-based programs at recruiting events as able
- Regularly review and analyze application and enrollment trends to identify best practices to meet enrollment goals for the Peninsulas
- Create, and manage WWU Ambassador program for Poulsbo and Bremerton based programs, to include regular training for student ambassadors
Data Management and Prospective Student Communication (40%)
- Create, edit, and manage on-going prospective student communication using WWU's Slate or other partner college CRM
- Proactively communicate with prospective students on application process, requirements, deadlines, financial aid and other important items
- Regularly analyze data to determine number of prospective students and applicants by program at any given time
- Meet established goals for timely communication with prospective students
- Create reports for Senior Director Western Locations on applicant data
- Design, implement and manage new student communication flow in Slate as needed, to highlight important dates, etc. to drive enrollment growth
- Create new strategies for outreach and recruitment activities
Administrative Duties (10%)
- Ensure timely completion of travel reports for each recruitment related activity
- Create and track recruitment event success using established metrics and KPIs
- Participate as a member of the Western on the Peninsulas team, to include regular team meetings and engagement opportunities, conferences, training and professional development
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism and Accessibility Work (5%)
- Demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Employ strategies for outreach and inclusion that support a diverse student body at Western
- Contribute to the unit, OCE, and Western's work on diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility through conversations and professional development
Other duties as assigned (5%)

Required Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree and three years of professional work experience
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals in a challenging environment in the last 2 years
- Proven success generating revenue or meeting other sales related goals
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative
- Previous experience working as a contributing member of a collaborative team
- Demonstrated success managing time and work independently
- Experience with public speaking
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously and successfully
- Ability to work in person, on campus in Poulsbo or Bremerton up to 5 days per week when needed

Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, communication or related field
- 2+ years' of full-time professional experience in a sales role
- Familiarity with Slate, Salesforce, Hubspot or other CRM
- Understanding of Lean methodologies and KPIs

Salary |
Hiring range is $57,328 - $65,928/year depending on qualifications and experience. Through longevity position tops out at $74,528. |
