About the Department

The Department of Music is a community of musicians and teachers who work collaboratively to support and encourage one another. Our mission is to provide a rigorous, professional artistic experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels; produce graduates who use their musical abilities to enrich and sustain communities within the university, the region, and beyond; and support ongoing musical experiences as part of a comprehensive Liberal Arts education.

The Department of Music serves 200 undergraduate majors and 12 graduate students annually, and offers BA, BMus and MMus degrees in multiple concentration areas, as well as minors in Music and Jazz Studies. The Department is comprised of twenty full-time faculty and approximately thirty-six part-time faculty. The department serves as a focal point for the campus and the regional community through collaboration, participation and leadership in music performance and instruction. About the Position The Music Department maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in possible openings throughout the academic year and summer sessions for temporary, limited term teaching positions on a part-time basis, with occasional opportunities for temporary, full-time appointments.  Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis. 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in music or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and professionalism
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultivating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • MM, PhD, DMA
  • Previous teaching experience
