The Regional Delivery Division of the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is currently seeking to appoint a temporary Senior Project Officer Biodiversity Certification to join our Greater Sydney Branch. You will work in a small multidisciplinary team that delivers improved environmental and sustainability outcomes through the planning system, with a focus on the Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan strategic biodiversity certification.

As part of this role, you will deliver accurate and timely advice to inform decision making and to advance environmental conservation and, sustainability outcomes and provide advice to the State and Local Government. You will work collaboratively across DCCEEW and government with respect to the monitoring and implementation of the CPCP, including risk management, and will lead aspects of the assessment and review of strategic biodiversity certification applications, including major and technically complex projects.

 

About You

  • Strong knowledge of relevant environment and planning legislation.
  • Experience in implementing legislation, policy and programs in relation to environment and conservation, with an understanding of the workings of government at a state and local level.
  • Demonstrated experience in program delivery, stakeholder collaboration and negotiation to facilitate effective outcomes.
  • Degree in Planning, environmental sciene or management, natural resource management, or equivalent.
