The role
As Senior Assessment Officer Native Title, you’ll be deeply involved in complex assessment activities related to the implementation of Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs), including assessments of Aboriginal Land Claims under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983. Your role is crucial in facilitating the return of lands to native title holders, aligning with government priorities and managing Crown land effectively.
You’ll mentor staff to enhance their understanding of land claim assessments, handle detailed assessments, prepare high-quality documents, and provide expert advice on Crown land management. In this role, you may be challenged with prioritizing assessments in a high-volume environment, staying updated on relevant legislation, and ensuring all processes comply with established procedures.

What is an essential requirement:
- Detailed knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Native Title Act 1993 and experience in the evaluation of evidence against statutory criteria as interpreted by the courts and knowledge of the claim provisions of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983.
