  • Role: Senior Communications Advisor
  • Employment type: Temporary up to 31 December 2026 with the possibility of extension or conversion to ongoing.
  • Hours per week: 35 – with flexible working options available

  • Environment Officer Class 10 - Salary from $125,487 - $138,386 plus super

Our Marketing and Communications team is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Communications Advisor to support the delivery of the NSW Consumer Energy Strategy and other critical energy and climate change initiatives. The Strategy is one of the highest priority campaigns across government and will support households and small businesses in their role at the centre of NSW’s energy transition to net zero emissions.

 

About the opportunity

This role will lead a range of communications initiatives to make energy information more accessible, connect households and businesses to a range of benefits and ultimately encourage affordable action on climate change to reach net zero targets. The Senior Communications Advisor will be helping people to save money on their bills, make informed choices and make their homes more comfortable and sustainable.

 

This is the role for you if you love: using your technical skills to inform, educate and motivate people to act on climate change, energy use and sustainability; producing and using customer data and insights to drive customer-centred communications and innovation; and working in partnership with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to connect the dots and communicate impact.

 

About you

  • You bring senior specialist audience-centric marketing and communication skills to develop and deliver a range of communications activities across traditional and digital platforms
  • You have a demonstrated ability to lead integrated multi-channel marketing and advertising campaigns
  • You can translate complex or technical information into customer-centric content and plain English messaging for diverse audience groups
  • You have demonstrated experience in expertly leading a small, high-performing communications and marketing team
  • You are comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the ability to juggle competing deadlines and priorities. 
  • You have exceptional project management skills, including the ability to deliver agreed outcomes on time, on budget and to quality standards

 

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications or other relevant discipline or equivalent relevant work experience.

About the team

The Marketing & Communications team works in a high-performing and fast paced function embedded in the Strategic Delivery branch within the Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability Group, in the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). We are strategic thinkers, delivering integrated specialist marketing and communication activities to inform and activate key audiences across community, business, industry, government and household sectors to meet NSW’s priority objectives.

The Senior Communications Advisor reports to the Manager, Marketing and Communications and leads a small team to plan, deliver, monitor and report on a range of activities across energy, climate change and sustainability programs and stakeholder audiences. We work alongside digital specialists, information analysts and project officers to ensure an integrated and continuous improvement approach to delivery of audience-specific initiatives.
