The role
The Native Title Project Officer facilitates a connected environment by acting as a conduit between Crown Lands and multiple internal and external stakeholders for Native Title projects and commitments. This role involves coordinating and providing culturally appropriate administrative and support activities to achieve government priorities related to Native Title and Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs).
Your key responsibilities will include liaising with internal Crown Lands staff, other NSW Government agencies, Registered Native Title Body Corporates (RNTBCs), providing advice on ILUAs and native title issues, attending meetings, and managing complex projects. This role involves maintaining accurate data and records in corporate systems, ensuring legislative compliance, and fostering productive stakeholder relationships through effective communication and negotiation.

What you will bring to the role
- Ability to assess and interpret land tenure data to support compliance and decision-making.
- Proficiency in effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and government agencies.
- Capability to coordinate and manage multiple compliance activities and projects simultaneously.
- Understanding and respecting the cultural sensitivities involved in dealing with Aboriginal land claims and Native Title matters.
- Meticulous in maintaining accurate records, data entry, and compliance documentation
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire and apply new skills, policies, and technology tools, ensuring seamless adaptation to evolving professional environments
Key knowledge and experience
- Experience with interpretation of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983, Native Title Act 1993, and the Crown Land Management Act 2016.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and an excellent understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structure
What is an essential requirement:
- Current drivers’ license, with the willingness and ability to travel within NSW
