The role
The Manager of Open Space Programs develops and delivers statewide projects as part of the Department’s ambitious planning reform program. This includes initiatives like Parks for People, Places to Swim, and other forward-thinking programs that promote innovation and best practices in the planning, design, and delivery of public open spaces. This role plays a key part in expanding access to public spaces while championing best practices and excellence across the field.

What you will bring to the role
With your expertise in planning and delivering public open spaces, you’ll play a vital role in shaping transformative strategies that impact communities across NSW. Your deep understanding and commitment to best practices in open space planning, design, and management will drive innovative, sustainable solutions that enrich lives and inspire future development. Working collaboratively across the Department and with stakeholder you will elevate the quality and inclusive of public open spaces, creating enduring value for communities while supporting consistent, impactful policy and program delivery.
Key knowledge and experience
- Experience in planning and delivering public open spaces.
- Knowledge of best practice project management techniques and an ability to supervise multiple projects, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Analytical skills in relation to design issues and experience supervising multiple projects.
- Experience in providing sound judgement and advice on issues.
- Experience the preparation of reports or policy.
Essential requirements
- Degree in landscape architecture, planning, urban design, strategy, communication, or other relevant discipline.
