About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) offers a unique opportunity for a Senior Field Supervisor to join the Southern Rangers Branch to oversee field operations with the Hawkweed Management Program.
A highly invasive weed, hawkweeds threaten our sensitive alpine regions and rich agricultural areas. Two varieties of hawkweed are found in NSW, mouse-ear hawkweed, located in Kosciuszko National Park (KNP) and orange hawkweed found in both KNP and on neighbouring private lands. The Hawkweed Management Program is part of a cross-tenure effort to eradicate hawkweed from NSW.
The Senior Field Supervisor plays a critical role in delivering team leadership and operational oversight of the Hawkweed Program. This includes planning, developing and managing field surveillance, reporting and control. Working in remote locations across KNP, our program leverages a variety of resources to meet eradication goals, including helicopters to complete activities as efficiently as possible within a tight timeframe. The Senior Field Supervisor is responsible for working with staff and contractors to ensure works are completed safely and to high operational standards.
