About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Business Performance and Performing Unit, this is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team responsible for helping bring together data and evidence about performance and delivery within our National Parks. Use your skills to help inform the protection of the most important natural and cultural assets in NSW – from the peaks of Mt Kosciuszko and the towering forests along the Great Dividing Range to our spectacular coastal reserves and outback national parks.
With a focus on building relationships and supporting the agency to use data to plan and make informed decisions. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the right person with a passion for our national parks to make a measurable difference to how National Parks is able to tell its story!
The Senior Project Officer is responsible for providing diverse project management and support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation, and implementing and monitoring project plans. The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of two staff and the team focusses on:
- Coordination of performance planning and reporting
- Business improvement projects and strategy development
- Developing and improving systems and tools that support park operations and program delivery teams to effectively plan, deliver and monitor.
A typical day could include liaising with a range of NPWS staff to coordinate annual park management planning processes, seeking input to report on park management progress and outcomes; analysing reporting data; preparing effective communications of the results for key internal stakeholders; and providing technical support for planning and reporting systems.
About You
As a Senior Project Officer you are adept at managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with inter-connected teams. Ideally, you have exposure to high-volume work within a large complex organisation or similar and have a passion for achieving outcomes in a changing and diverse work environment.
You are adept at problem solving, enjoy handling diverse and complex data, and are enthusiastic about learning and applying technological solutions. You can collate, analyse and interpret data, and present insights in varied formats accessible to different audiences.
You’ll also be highly motivated and an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders both in person and through virtual networks. You thrive being a team player who is proactive and demonstrates initiative at every opportunity.
