  • Unique opportunity to drive strategic governance, risk management, and compliance excellence
  • Salary ranges from $110,266 to $ 122,058 + super & leave loading.
  • Temporary full-time assignment to provide leave cover across two periods - 20 May 2025 up until 4 June 2025 and 7 July 2025 up until 25 July 2025
  • Hybrid work arrangements will be considered

 

About the role

 The Governance Officer plays a crucial role in shaping and maintaining the Office’s governance frameworks. This position ensures compliance, strategic alignment, and effective risk management. Responsibilities span across internal audit programs, regulatory compliance, and corporate planning, supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of governance initiatives that strengthen organisational integrity.

A key aspect of the role involves supporting governance projects to ensure processes and reporting mechanisms align with both strategic goals and legislative requirements. Systematic risk management is a priority, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, treated, monitored, escalated, and reported appropriately. Additionally, compliance standards are monitored to identify gaps and recommend improvements, maintaining regulatory adherence.

Managing diverse internal stakeholders is a challenge, requiring coordination and collaboration to foster a proactive governance culture. This role involves engaging and educating teams across a geographically dispersed organisation while staying current with legislative and policy developments. Providing expert advice and driving continuous improvement are essential to strengthening governance outcomes.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need a solid understanding of governance frameworks and risk management principles. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills will be important in fostering a culture of compliance and governance excellence. The ability to think strategically, solve problems, and turn regulatory requirements into practical actions will support success in the role.

Knowledge of internal audit programs, risk assessment, and compliance monitoring will help in making informed decisions and providing governance support. Analytical skills, attention to trends, and the ability to offer insights will contribute to positive outcomes. Good organisational skills will be necessary to manage multiple projects effectively while maintaining accuracy and accountability.

Beyond technical skills, a proactive and adaptable approach will be valuable. The ability to navigate governance challenges and build strong relationships across teams will be key to success in this role. Simplifying governance concepts and encouraging stakeholder engagement will ensure effective implementation and lasting impact.
