  • Scientist (Environment Officer Class 7)
  • Temporary full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity up until June 2026
  • Office location is Lidcombe - Hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $105,924 to $117,031 + super

 

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic spatial data analyst and field ecologist to contribute to desk-based and field monitoring in NSW saltmarsh and mangrove communities. The team is tasked with providing innovative decision support tools for land managers and identifying adaptation and resilience tools for conserving estuarine communities as sea levels rise. We also offer career development and advancement opportunities. 

 

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated, hardworking individual to fill this temporary position and contribute to the delivery of our research within the NSW Marine Estate Management Strategy.  We would like to hear from scientists with demonstrated experience in computer-based analysis of spatial and biophysical data. You will also have extensive experience in the capture, management and communication of rigorous scientific data.  You must be willing to travel for field trips located along the NSW coast.

Key knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in computer-based spatial analysis and remote sensing of environmental data
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data management, R, ArcGIS or similar software
  • Willingness to contribute to field and laboratory experiments that elucidate estuarine processes.
