We are seeking a highly experienced Principal PEGA Application Developer to join the Value NSW team at Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) and play a pivotal role in building and maintaining our Val IQ platform, shaping robust, scalable, and efficient PEGA solutions that support essential land valuation and property services across NSW.
As the Principal PEGA Application Developer, you will lead the development, enhancement, and optimisation of PEGA applications, ensuring seamless integration with critical systems. You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders, mentor junior developers, and drive technical excellence while maintaining system security and performance
About this role:
- Using your extensive development skillset and in-depth knowledge of PEGA builds, lead the creation of robust, scalable, and efficient PEGA applications.
- Turn complex business needs into simple, effective PEGA solutions.
- Ensure system stability and performance through quality coding, troubleshooting, and continuous optimisation.
- Manage PEGA upgrades and integrations to keep our technology up to date.
- Collaborate across teams and stakeholders to solve technical challenges and improve digital services.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a strong technical team.
- Stay ahead of the curve by integrating the latest PEGA tools and technologies.

What you will bring to the role
Demonstrated senior/lead developer experience with current PEGA products and solutions.
- Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable PEGA applications in a CI/CD and test driven development environment.
- Experience navigating multi-system, legacy-integrated environments, preferably with spatial/GIS integrations, while balancing security, compliance, and innovation.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders, provide technical guidance, and work across teams to resolve challenges.
- Passion for coaching junior developers and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Ability to manage dependencies, collaborate with global vendors, and ensure the stability of PEGA platforms.
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.

About Us
The Valuer General is an independent statutory officer, appointed by the Governor of New South Wales to oversee the State's land valuation system.
Value NSW (VNSW), part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, delivers the valuation system for rating and taxing as well as compulsory acquisition compensation purposes via delegation of the Valuer General of NSW. This includes but is not limited to:
- Making more than 2.7 million residential, rural, commercial and industrial valuations annually, with a total value of approximately $3 trillion as well as managing compulsory acquisition determinations in situations where government cannot reach agreement, totalling over $1 billion per annum
- Delivering customer services and experience for 2.7 million landholders per annum – receiving up to 50,000 calls and many more enquiries
- Monitoring, assurance and governance pertaining to the quality of the valuations undertaken relevant to both the Valuation of Land Act 1916 and the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991.
In addition, VNSW provides other specialised valuation activities, services and determinations for other cluster or statewide government partners – including being responsible for the delivery of all valuations for government property transactions as defined by the Government Property Framework and Treasurer’s Directions as well as more than $84 billion in government asset valuations for financial accounting purposes.
