- Wetlands & Rivers Conservation Officer

- Salary relative to experience and ranges $120,701 to $134,460 + Super
Conservation Programs, Heritage and Regulation Group is currently seeking to appoint a Wetlands & Rivers Conservation Officer to our Regional Delivery branch.
In this role you will be a member of the a regionally based team. You will play a key role in the strategic implementation of environmental water programs, plans and projects across the region. You will contribute to the planning, delivery, monitoring, and adaptive management of environmental water to support ecological outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include developing and coordinating effective partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Commonwealth and other water delivery partners. You will support cross-regional initiatives and contribute to informed decision-making on environmental water use through monitoring, evaluation, and comprehensive reporting against established ecological objectives.
This role requires a collaborative approach, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work across government and non-government organisations to ensure the effective and efficient use of environmental water in line with legislative, policy, and program goals.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in river and wetland planning and management, including the hydrology and ecology of rivers, floodplains and wetlands.
- Demonstrated ability to present and explain complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of water, threatened species and biodiversity conservation legislation and policies, including the requirements of the Murray Darling Basin Plan.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications and/or experience with a similar role
- A drivers’ licence, capability to work in the field, including use of All-terrain vehicles (training provided).
