About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to provide quality customer service and administrative support for the Gulaga and Biamanga Boards of Management to meet the Boards objectives, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, processes and procedures, audit and statutory requirements. Gulaga and Biamanga National Parks are jointly managed by NPWS and the Boards of Management.

 

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections to Yuin country are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977). 

 

About You

You are a motivated and organised individual with a commitment to supporting Aboriginal communities and a passion for environmental and cultural conservation. With strong administrative and customer service skills, you’re confident using technology and managing tasks like records maintenance, meeting coordination, minute taking and financial processes.

You work well both independently and as part of a team, communicating effectively across cultures and contributing to a respectful, inclusive workplace. Your ability to prioritise, stay detail-focused, and adapt to changing demands ensures smooth day-to-day operations in support of the National Parks and Wildlife Service’s vital work.

 

Essential Requirements

  • This is an identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people, government organisations and communities with the ability to communicate across cultures.
  • Experience in administration including the use of computer-based systems such as word processing, spreadsheet and records management systems.
  • Knowledge of financial and human resource management procedures, policies and practices.
