  • Salary ranges from $105,924 to $117,031 + super + leave loading

 

Our Nature & Natural Capital Strategy Division (NNCS) is currently seeking to appoint a Policy Officer to join the Forestry Land use & Marine Policy team, in an ongoing, full-time capacity. 

Our Policy Officer will join the Marine Policy team, who are responsible for the oversight and coordination of DCCEEW’s responsibilities for the conservation and management of NSW’s marine estate. This is a great opportunity to work on a diverse range of marine policy and program matters around the marine estate, marine parks and marine wildlife.

 

About the Role

The Policy Officer is a member of a small team within the Marine Policy team, Forestry, Land Use and Marine Policy Branch, helping to shape policy settings that support the NSW marine estate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working collaboratively to solve problems and provide expert policy advice related to marine conservation and marine estate management
  • Rapidly developing high-quality advice for senior management and the Executive on a range of marine estate and marine conservation issues
  • Supporting the delivery and implementation of the Marine Estate Management Strategy
  • Contributing to threat and risk assessments for marine-related issues
  • Providing input into the planning and management of marine protected areas
  • Synthesising data and research on marine wildlife and delivering clear, well-informed written advice

 

About You

You’re passionate about marine conservation and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to real-world environmental outcomes. You bring strong policy skills, a collaborative mindset and the ability to think critically and communicate with impact.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A strong foundation as a well-rounded policy practitioner
  • Excellent analytical skills, combined with strong attention to detail
  • A curious mindset and the ability to think critically and seek different perspectives
  • Confidence in contributing to the development and delivery of ambitious work programs and working in an inclusive, engaged and high-performing team
  • Willing and able to travel to metro NSW and other regional locations, as needed (approx. 1-2 times per quarter)
