  • Internal expression of interest – 2 x Senior Policy Officer (EO9)
  • Temporary opportunity 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026 (1 Year)  
  • Office location – Negotiable in NSW
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $120,701 to $134,460 + super

 

About the role

The roles will have the following primary focuses:

  • Drive and support the implementation of the NSW Plan for Nature in relation to threatened entities, including ‘Improving species and ecosystem programs’ (Rec 13) , and ‘Coordinating our approach to listing threatened species and ecological communities’ (Rec 14)
  • Contribute to elements of the BC Act amendment process and the Nature Strategy Business case
  • Deliver koala-related policy work including supporting the koala independent expert panel, liaising with the NRC and administering koala election commitment grants
  • Deliver other policy work as needed.

The position works to the Principal Policy Officer. You will be required to build strong working relationships with colleagues across the department.

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to work independently and to be a critical thinker, have excellent attention to detail, and be able to build relationships and liaise independently with colleagues across the Department. A demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines, to work in a fast-paced team environment, and to critically evaluate policy with a desire and passion to contribute to conservation outcomes are also important.
