About the role
Our Greater Sydney Branch is currently seeking Casual Discovery Guides to implement diverse activities and learning experiences for visitors to the Royal National Park and other National Parks and Reserves in Greater Sydney, to foster community awareness, appreciation and understanding for conserving the state’s natural and cultural heritage.

This educational role will focus on conducting weekday excursions for primary and secondary school groups as well as being involved in some weekend and school holiday leisure programs. Educational activities based on bush regeneration are also involved in this role.

 

About you
Your strong communication skills are paramount to the success of this role. This is a hands-on role as you will be delivering programs to different stakeholders and will need to be able to think on your feet to respond to various questions and situations. Self-management is important for this role as there may be times you will be working alone and will need to ensure safety is a priority meeting the required Work Health Safety standards. Your experience in teaching and education will be highly valued. Demonstrated passion for geography and science, the Australian environment and awareness of NPWS values.

 

Essential requirements

  • Current Working with Children check
  • Senior First Aid certificate


Key knowledge and experience

  • Practical experience in interpretive and educational guiding or in delivering training or class room experiences.
  • Understanding of the role of the Department, and a broad knowledge of the natural values and cultural history of the local area.
  • Awareness of Aboriginal Culture.
