About the CPHR Office of Deputy Secretary
The Office of the Deputy Secretary for Conservation Programs, Heritage and Regulation supports our Deputy Secretary Brendan Bruce across various policy and operational matters. There are two teams within the Office focusing on;
- Policy and Briefings – Ministerial briefings, meeting papers, correspondence, etc.
- Operations - recruitment, travel, WHS, risk, reporting, etc.
The Office of Deputy Secretary are seeking Senior Project Officer and Senior Policy Officer EOIs to act in EO9 roles for potential short-term vacancies over the next 12 months to cover periods of leave. When looking to fill vacancies we will reach out to the EOI pool in the first instance.
Upcoming vacancies include:
- Senior Project Officer – Operations: 7 July to 22 July (2.5 weeks)
- Senior Project Officer – Operations: 4 Aug to 8 Aug (1 week)

Senior Policy Officer – Policy and Briefings
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Experience in providing, high level coordination services to manage requests for information from senior executives, Ministers’ Offices, other parts of the agency, other government agencies and the public, and coordinate timely, informed, and well-constructed responses.
- The ability to review and deliver high quality advice such as briefing notes, submissions, reports, meeting papers, Ministerial, Cabinet and Parliamentary products to meet required quality and accuracy standards and timeframes.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to express information clearly and succinctly.
- The ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with proven capacity to work collaboratively and manage and prioritise workflow.

Senior Project Officer – Operations
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Have a clear communicator with attention to detail who is able to effectively interpret requests and coordinate with various groups within DCCEEW and the Group. This includes reporting data as well as briefing notes.
- Have strong written communication skills in preparing speaking notes and written communications for leaders.
- Provide excellent customer service and seek to identify process improvements in the work that you do with the aim to reduce administrative burden and ensure that the executive feel well supported.
- Demonstrate project management skills with the ability to deliver agreed outcomes on time, and to quality standards.
