Our Policy and Performance team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Manager Strategic Policy to lead a team responsible for the development of strategic initiatives to improve the regulatory framework for Natural Resources Access Regulator’s operations, to support our statutory objective of being an efficient, effective and accountable regulator.

A day in this role could include:

  • Spearhead NRAR’s statutory responsibilities by formulating policies related to compliance and enforcement powers, including direct engagement with the Chief Regulatory Officer and Directors.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of initiatives to support NRAR’s strategic purpose of championing improvements to the management of natural resources, in particular - water management.
  • Lead NRAR’s strategic negotiations with other water sector agencies and other Government departments on strategic agreements to put in place improved NRAR operations.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based policy initiatives that support NRAR’s Strategic Plan in accordance with agreed budgets and engage with key stakeholders on policy issues.

About You

You will have extensive experience in compliance and regulatory policy and operations, and have a sound understanding of policy and development, evaluation and delivery. Your skills and experience in negotiations and your strong communication skills enable you to easily establish and maintain constructive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You are confident in independently managing day-to-day work priorities, deploying resources, allocating duties and operating within delegations and budgets.

Essential Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in natural resource or environmental management or similar discipline, and/or relevant experience.
