The role

As Associate Director, you’ll lead the development and delivery of the AMRF’s semiconductor strategy, bringing together global partners, research institutions, and industry leaders to build Australia’s first commercial advanced packaging facility. You’ll be hands-on in everything from building a team of advanced packaging experts, cleanroom design to capability development, ensuring the facility is not only cutting-edge but also scalable and sustainable.

This role is an opportunity to help shape the future of the semiconductor industry in Australia, delivering complex technical and operational requirements, balancing diverse stakeholder interests, managing tight timelines, and transitioning from setup to high-performance operations. You’ll be the go-to for strategic collaboration, technical leadership, and operational excellence, helping to position the AMRF as a critical hub for the Australian semiconductor industry and a global player in advanced packaging technologies.

What you will bring to the role

  • Strong technical background in semiconductor packaging with demonstrated hands-on experience in advanced packaging processes gained preferably in an industry or commercial R&D setting
  • Proven experience in industry engagement, business development, or strategic partnerships within the semiconductor, electronics, or deep tech sectors.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments across industry, research, and government.
  • Demonstrated experience working in or overseeing high-tech facility operations, especially cleanroom environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in facility development, equipment specification, and industry qualification standards.
  • Skilled in identifying emerging trends and assessing next-generation technologies in the semiconductor sector to guide high-impact R&D initiatives.
  • Demonstrated global perspective and experience working with international semiconductor industry stakeholders.
  • Sound experience in delivering complex projects and analysing complex issues involving technical and other data sources such as financial and technical.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Tertiary qualifications in electrical, industrial, aerospace, mechatronic, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, materials science or related disciplines, or demonstrated, equivalent, relevant professional experience.

The Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) is a private subsidiary corporation owned by the Bradfield Development Authority that is central to the economic development strategy underpinning Bradfield City Centre. It will play an important role in supporting the manufacturing sector, creating more high-value jobs and leveraging the $20 billion worth of Government infrastructure in the Aerotropolis.
