  • Temporary (Up to 24 October 2025) full-time ( 35 hours per week) opportunity, with possibility of extension.
  • Office location is Parramatta / Hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $144,058 to $151,227 + super

 

CPHR Regional Delivery -  Greater Sydney Branch is seeking to appoint a Senior Natural Resource Officer (Floodplain Management) to drive the delivery of studies and plans to manage flood risk and contribute to effective regional delivery of environmental programs by working with Councils to ensure floodplain risk management studies and plans are delivered within reasonable timeframes and are of a high quality. The role also contributes technical and policy advice to Government and Local Councils.

The successful applicant will be working alongside a friendly multi-disciplinary team of water, flood and coastal management experts where learning and knowledge sharing is encouraged. It is a great opportunity to work on a huge range of exciting projects throughout the Greater Sydney region.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to operate with some level of autonomy in the context of the agreed work plan and determine your day to day work priorities. The position is also fully accountable for the quality, integrity and accuracy of advice provided.

 Key knowledge and Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of floodplain risk assessment methods and floodplain management strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Government's Flood Prone Land Policy, Flood Risk Management Manual and related guidelines and legislation.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the application of hydrological and hydraulic models in analysing flood behaviour and flood hazards.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Civil / Environmental Engineering (or equivalent) and eligible for membership of Engineers Australia.
  • Current drivers licence (Class C)
