  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $115,853 to $130,547+ super

 

At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system, the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Government’s unwavering commitment to tackle the critical housing issue, we provide essential support and strategic guidance. The Planning Land Use Strategy, Housing and Infrastructure (PLUSHI) team are the driving force behind the Department's strategic planning, policy, rezoning, and infrastructure projects, all aimed at making New South Wales a better place to live.

 

The Planning Officer assists with the delivery of State-led rezonings and assessment of State-assessed rezoning proposals, with a focus on delivery and collaboration with stakeholders.

What you will bring to the role

You will undertake planning tasks and allocated projects relating to State-led rezonings in the North West Growth Area and Orchard Hills, by conducting research and analysis, , seeking stakeholder feedback, managing consultants and solving problems.

 

Key knowledge and experience

  • Clear understanding of the NSW planning system and relevant legislation.
  • An ability to analyse data and information to guide planning decisions.
  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of State and local government authorities and the private sector in the delivery of new diverse housing.
  • A good understanding of contemporary planning issues, government policy and trends
  • A consistently positive and collaborative approach
  • A keen focus on innovation, design excellence, sustainability and place-based solutions

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary degree qualification or other equivalent qualification
  • Willingness to travel and Class C Driver’s Licence for regional positions
