  • Senior Engagement Officer
  • 7 month opportunity, until February 2026
  • Office location – Parramatta, other NSW locations negotiable
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 + super

 

CCNSW is leading transformation of the regulation of the cemeteries and crematoria sector in NSW. This includes implementing a new scheme licensing operators for the first time, monitoring compliance with new licence conditions, and exploring future directions for the sector and developing policy and regulation in response to emerging issues.

 

The role

The Senior Engagement Officer manages and coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of complex projects to drive improvements in the interment sector through regulatory strategy, education and guidance to ensure interment operators adopt target behaviours in line with legislation and organisational goals.

 

The role will be part of a Regulatory Strategy team, focusing on engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including cemetery and crematorium operators, funeral directors, consumers and peak industry bodies.  The role supports the development and implementation of engagement strategies, tools, and processes to provide consistent and transparent guidance to customers about what they can expect and to operators about meeting their regulatory requirements.

What you will bring to the role

  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, evaluating and enhancing stakeholder engagement strategies and communication management plans (although not essential, experience working in a regulatory environment would be desirable).
  • Ability to engage with complex regulatory/legislative issues and understand the key concepts to support engagement and education of stakeholders via development of guidance materials and other resources.
  • Strong project management abilities including time management and organisational skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently, while effectively involving team members and stakeholders throughout the process.
  • High-level written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse professionals in a collaborative environment.
  • High level administrative skills to develop and maintain clear and thorough project documentation to support informed decision-making.
  • Enjoys autonomy and demonstrates proficiency in working independently, taking initiative, and making decisions. 
  • Team player with the ability to thrive in a multi-skilled team environment.
  • Experience in the cemetery and crematoria sector is highly regarded.

 

What is an essential requirement:

  • Relevant qualifications, and/or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in communications, engagement with varying stakeholders, communities or related disciplines.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and ability to travel throughout NSW.
