  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $94,423 to $105,016 + super

 

Our team is currently seeking to appoint an Assistant Project Officer to support the operation of the BOS Help Desk to ensure the consistent, efficient, and accurate delivery of enquiry management services. This includes triaging and tracking enquiries, preparing responses and internal briefings, maintaining knowledge and communications materials, and coordinating with internal subject matter experts and external stakeholders. The role contributes to the delivery of operational support for the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) by supporting compliance with biodiversity assessment and offsetting policy, legislative frameworks, and customer service standards.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the triage, allocation, and tracking of BOS Help Desk enquiries to ensure timely, accurate, and policy-aligned responses.
  • Assist in the implementation of BOS-related procedures and knowledge management practices (e.g. response templates, guidelines, knowledge base articles).
  • Undertake analysis of enquiries and prepare summary reports on issues and trends for use in team briefings, newsletters, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate Help Desk administration tasks including managing shared inboxes, stakeholder contact lists, and meeting schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain draft responses, template content, and communication materials, ensuring alignment with legislative and procedural requirements.
  • Provide support to senior staff in liaising with internal stakeholders (e.g. BAM Operations, Offsets and Practice Group, Regional Planning teams) to source and confirm enquiry responses.
  • Contribute to the improvement of BOS Help Desk systems and processes to enhance service delivery and customer experience.

 

About You

To be successful in the role, you will be a collaborative and detail-oriented team member with experience supporting customer service or operation delivery functions in a government or regulatory setting. You will demonstrate a proactive approach to liaising with your supervisor, providing regular updates on progress and seeking guidance where appropriate to ensure consistent, high-quality responses to customer enquiries.  Your ability to follow established processes, manage competing priorities and contribute to a positive team environment will be key to your success.

You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and relay technical information clearly and accurately to a range of stakeholders. Experience using case management systems (such as Jira Service Management), knowledge management tools, or data entry systems will be highly regarded. A keen eye for detail, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn about the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme and associated systems and policies will enable you to support informed, consistent and timely enquiry handling across the BOS Help Desk team.
