Internal expressions of interest (EOI) are invited from ongoing employees within the NSW Government to be considered for temporary at level or above level assignment opportunities.
To be eligible to apply for this EOI, you must be an ongoing or current temporary NSW Government employee.
About the Role
Investment NSW seeks to appoint a commercial, people oriented leader as Trade and Investment Commissioner, Greater China. This is a key appointment to advance the State’s interests across several sectors and priorities.
The Commissioner reports to Executive Director, Trade & International (who is based in Sydney) and will oversee a network of two offices (Shanghai and Guangzhou) as well as representatives in Hong Kong SAR and Taipei.
The Commissioner will lead a highly engaged team to facilitate and grow economic and cultural opportunities between NSW and Greater China. Providing strategic insight to internal and external stakeholders on matters related to trade, investment, and economic development across the region is central to this role.
The ideal candidate for this locally engaged position is a commercially astute leader who has senior level experience gained within the public sector combined with deep familiarity of Australia and China. Recognised as being a credible and trusted leader[KC1] with a track record of building collaborative relationships and delivering results, the appointee will be known for excellent stakeholder engagement and leading high performing teams.
Evidencing a commitment to accountability and governance, the incumbent will ideally demonstrate detailed knowledge in one or more of the NSW Government’s key industry sectors (food and beverage, agribusiness, life sciences, international education, clean economy). Salary: Public Senior Service Executive Equivalent Band 2 equivalent. Salary will be negotiated upon offer. Please note that the salary will be paid in China, so no superannuation is payable.
Important note
As this is an international role, the successful candidate will not be employed under the Government Sector Employment Act and therefore normal secondment and transfer provisions will not apply.
