Who we are

The Net Zero Commission is an independent advisory body established under the Climate Change (Net Zero Future) Act 2023 to guide NSW’s climate response. Its core responsibilities include monitoring and reporting on the State’s progress toward emissions reduction targets and climate adaptation, providing expert advice and recommendations to the Minister, and promoting climate action across government, industry, and the community. Made up of up to eight Commissioners and accountable to the NSW Parliament, the Commission is supported by the Office of the Net Zero Commission within DCCEEW, which coordinates its work and serves as the main point of contact for public and government engagement.

The Commission is part of The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) - which works to protect the state’s environment and heritage.
