About the role

The Conservation Planning Unit within the Hunter Central Coast Branch of the National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking a Bush Regen and Volunteering Officer to implement strategic pest and weed management programs and facilitate community participation in park management.

As the Bush Regen and Volunteering Officer you will be accountable for delivering collaborative conservation priority projects with a focus on weed contractor management, project planning, volunteer management, weed data capture and the coordination of external grants. You will be supported by a friendly team of experienced conservation planning officers reporting directly to the Team Leader Conservation for the Hunter Central Coast Branch.

 

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of procurement and contract management processes and systems.
  • Experience managing contractors to ensure compliance with DECCEW policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Proficiency in the use of the NPWS PWIS system and/or experience using the ArcGIS suit.

 

Essential requirements

  • A Tafe Certificate IV in Bush Regeneration or equivalent.
  • Experience working with volunteers or equivalent experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation principles as it relates to bush regeneration and pest and weed control operations.
  • Current Drivers License.

Note: The holder of this position will be required to perform rostered work on weekdays, weekends and public holidays
